Spider Safety Tips

As the weather begins to cool down during this period, everyone is excited to spend more time outdoor working in the yard, dusting off the grill, or just reclining on a seat and enjoying the view. But on the other hand, this period also comes with an increased invasion of crawling and creeping insects such as spiders. Therefore, it is crucial to beware of these insects during these times because spider bites are dangerous.

In this article, you’ll learn five spider safety tips to protect yourself from a spider bite.

Wear protective clothing: The best way to avoid bites from spiders or any insect at all is by wearing protective clothing such as long-sleeve shirts, trousers, gloves, and other clothing that protect the skin. It is also advisable to tuck your pants into your socks to ensure that there’s no room for spiders to crawl under your cloth. Also, ensure to shake your shoes before you wear them. This is because spiders can hide in shoes.

1.Look out for spider webs: The first thing to look out for when embarking on outdoor activities should be spider webs. Check all the corners, between walls, ceilings, and abandoned areas. Remove every spider web you may find, and eliminate the spiders, so they don’t nest elsewhere.

2. Be vigilant: The absence of spider webs does not summarily mean that there are no spiders around. Look out for critters in hidden places. Note that spiders are nocturnal, so they are most active in the night and early in the morning. Hence, it is best to do your outdoor activities in the afternoon time.

3. Use a natural repellent: You can repel spiders and other insects with natural repellents such as peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree oil, and other essential oils. To prepare your natural repellant, mix some essential oil in water, spray the mixture on your cloth, or rub your skin to repel insects. You can also spread it around your home, hangout spot, or workplace.

4. Be careful around spiders: Most spiders do not bite easily, even when you disturb them. But, be careful and avoid removing spiders with your bare hands because some spiders are harmful. The best way to eliminate arachnids is to contact a pest control company.
